A litany of problems, ranging  from low fertility, toxemia, dystocia, weak lambs, hoof ailments, coarse wool, parasite problems, slow growth, wool discoloration, and respiratory issues can be linked to mineral deficiencies. After nearly a decade of using Mayo boluses, & mentoring new shepherds, Kimberly Ritchie of Firefly Hollow Farm, saw clearly the impact the boluses were having on her own grass fed, grass finished Icelandic flock as well as other flocks around the country. 

 

As she watched more people attempt to raise 100% grass-fed, heritage breeds with disappointing results, Kimberly found herself sharing the benefits of multi-trace element boluses through presentations, articles and blog posts, but was frustrated by the erratic accessibility and high shipping costs that shepherds were facing. There is not a multi-trace element sheep bolus producer in the US, and after researching many in the UK, Ireland & Australia, Kimberly chose the 5-1 bolus by Mayo Healthcare in Ireland.

 

This was the beginning of a relationship between two family owned businesses rooted in a common love for sheep & premium flock care. It has grown into Sheepbolus.com. A site for not only selling premium mineral support, but also educating on ovine health.  

 

Our goal is to make premium mineral support easily accessible to US flocks. All bolus orders will be inspected, fulfilled, marked with an expiration date and shipped from Firefly Hollow Farm in Big Rock, Illinois. Our focus is to provide the premium mineral support that allowed our farm to achieve long term success.
